Shannon & Mike {Victoria wedding}

August 23, 2010

First of all, I’d just like to verbalize what everyone’s thinking: what a beautiful bride! Shannon has certainly got something special about her. It was pretty cute, Mike was actually thinking to himself “how did you pull this off?” as she walked down the garden’s aisle towards him.

The ceremony was held at the most beautiful location, the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria. I didn’t know what to expect, and when I got there, “shutter fever” quickly set in. The old wallpaper, huge oil paintings, gardens and ornate details made this location in my top 3 for the season. The reception was held at the Delta Point, a seasoned bridal favorite for it’s venues and on-the-water view of Victoria.

Shannon had her heart set on fashion stylized imagery. With the location, coupled with her previous dance experience, it wasn’t hard to turn her into a supermodel! (Mike did well too!) Their affection for each other was so easy to photograph.

The couple had also mentioned that they were keen on a shot of them with a peacock from the beacon hill petting zoo. After reviewing the portrait timeline, I concluded that we’d only have about 10 min to get in and out of beacon hill, hunt down a peacock, and make it smile for the camera.

Jesse and I teamed up and herded one towards the happy couple. I was like “Let’s dance [bird]”. Yes, peacock wrangling is in my job description.

Check Jesse’s stellar take on things here.

Thanks for inviting us into your day!
